Integrative Oncology – Mistletoe Therapy

Mistletoe (Viscum Album) is given by subcutaneous injection (SQ) three times weekly.  I teach you how to give the injections at home.  If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, either myself or a visiting nurse can assist you.  Mistletoe is given in increasing increments unless a reaction occurs. Mistletoe is not a protocol therapy – it is individualized to the animal. Local reactions may appear as a small bump, tenderness, heat, redness or swelling at the injection site.  Systemic reactions may appear as lethargy or a mild fever.  The reactions are a good sign – they mean the immune system is being activated to fight the cancer.

Mistletoe can be combined with chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  It improves the quality of life in human patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation by decreasing fatigue, insomnia, nausea and pain and increasing energy.  Mistletoe can also be combined with ozone, supplements, acupuncture and herbs. Alternatively, Mistletoe can be used as a palliative cancer treatment when conventional therapies (chemotherapy, radiation) are not an option.

Virtual Food Therapy Consult
(for owners seeking ONLY recipes)

  • $150 for first consult
  • $110 each additional consult

This consult is performed virtually over FaceTime or Zoom. I will discuss your pets current health issues and you goals for your pet. Because no in person exam is performed, this consult does NOT establish a valid VCPR (veterinary client patient relationship), so veterinary medical advice cannot be provided outside of the context of food therapy considerations. This is intended for pets that have already received a recent medical diagnosis by a veterinarian. I cannot guarantee that food therapy will be advisable for your pet, so please email me at integrativeholisticvet@gmail.com if you have questions about your pet’s eligibility for this service.
